2nd Annual Snoman Congress Awards Banquet

Outstanding Snowmobile Club

Exert from Awards Banquet Program

Swan Valley Snowmobiling Association has been around since 1987 and maintains and grooms over 300 kms of Snoman designated snowmobile trails. They have links to North Mountain Riders and Dauphin Snowmobile Club trail systems as well as to the Saskatchewan trail system. The Swan Valley membership has increased steadily. The club is very active in the community - the Club operates a food booth at the Swan River rodeo and in the past has raised funds and donated a rescue sled to the Rural Municipality of Minitonas and the Town of Swan River. This past season Swan Valley was one of the few communities in western Manitoba that had sufficient snow to provide groomed trails and as a result Swan Valley was inundated with enthusiastic snowmobilers. The club did a remarkable job of keeping trails groomed for the large number of riders coming to snowmobile.

Outstanding Snowmobile Family

Exert from Awards Banquet Program

The Sagert family has been enjoying snowmobiling for many years.  It all started when Derek got his first Snow Jet snowmobile at a young age.  Derek met his wife Lana over 21 years ago and they have two children, Aaron (17) and Bailey (14).  The whole family is out on their Arctic Cat snowmobiles every chance they get.  Over the years, they’ve owned approximately 20 Arctic Cat snowmobiles!

The Sagert family has been with Swan Valley Snowmobile Association for approximately eight years.  They support all fundraising for their Club and are always volunteering their time and talents.  With Derek grooming the trails (and making his famous wings for functions), Lana developing the Club’s website and the kids always there to help with whatever needs to be done – these are the reasons why this family is awarded the Outstanding Snowmobile Family for the 2011-2012 season.
